About Care
My name is Caitlyn Mitchell. I’ve been working towards this for a while. I want to be a postpartum doula. This career is important to me because I have experienced how women's needs are ignored and pushed away. Once I get my feet in the door, I would like to expand my work into supporting mothers at birth.
For now, I want to be able to help mothers through this significant life change at home. Women need to rest to heal. Birth is traumatic for the body, the best medicine is sleep combined with support from everyone around you. My goal is to listen to your needs. We can talk through your birth story or anxieties and find a solution.
Most birth classes don’t prepare you for what to expect after the hospital. There is a shift in your home welcoming a new baby and trying to connect with them. There are many things to consider once it’s just you and your partner caring for this new life. It does take a village to raise a child. Someone to hold your baby while you shower, eat, and sleep. I want to be a judge-free comforting presence to ease your mind.
I am getting my certification through BirthWorks International. I am still learning and gaining experience. Currently, I am looking for clients so I can complete my course. I am willing to work for no fee, 3 afternoons/nights a week for up to 3 months. I am always open to talking anytime as well. I want to support mothers to be confident in their decisions. Everyone has a different parenting style, and learning to use firm boundaries when uncomfortable is very important.
About Stormy and I
I am 21 years old, I have a dog named Socks and a cat named Queso. My parents have a little farm. A few years ago we got a sweet donkey named Jenny, soon we learned she was pregnant. She had a little boy named Stormy. I saw many goats give birth and chickens hatch. I love watching the mothers take care of their babies. But I know there can be many hard and stormy days. The sun will always come back up. I feel so inspired to aid mothers in their journey. In my free time, I like collecting CDs, making art, organizing, and hanging out on the farm.
